PETSKO LAB

The mission of the lab is to provide the best possible training environment for lab members to learn and grow as scientists, and to make a significant contribution to the world’s fight against debilitating diseases of the central nervous system. To achieve these goals, the lab carries out both fundamental research on the causes of diseases like ALS, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal dementia and multiple system atrophy, as well as translational research aimed at identifying and validating new targets for these diseases and developing therapeutic strategies to exploit these targets. Our core technologies include yeast genetics, mammalian cell biology, biochemistry, structural biology and computational methods. Therapeutic strategies we are focusing on at the moment are gene therapy and small molecule drug development.
